Total walked so far: 35.3 mi (56.8 km)
Route taken: Labruge to Pedra Furada
Video update:
Most people seemed to like the video update so I made another. Apologies for the audio quality! My only choice here at the albergue was to record in the very echo-y kitchen. Also, I slapped the lav mix twice. Eek.
Notes on the day:
Slept 6 hours and woke itching to get going. Earliest breakfast I can get is 8AM. Making the video last night was good. Taking time to read my notes, reflect, then record, may be a good process. I’m not set on any one path. I’m just going to see what each day brings!
Today will be longer, at least 17 miles (famous last words!). I’ll be switching over to the Central (main) route later in the day. That will be a bit wonky and poorly marked so Google Maps may have to work its magic.
“I like your spirit. You’re always smiling!” - (a huge gift from Elizabete at Smiling Places check out the video for more on this).
Started out with the guys from the guesthouse. Lost them within 1 km which is fine. More beaches and boardwalks and the weather is very lovely. Better enjoy it as it’s unclear when I’ll see sun again.
Met the guys for coffee, lost them again, then had a great 1€ beer together in Vila da Conde. Our Lithuanian friend left to stay on the Litoral Route while the two Californians tried to navigate the unclear path to the Central. We split up again after I had to fix my shoe I’ll see him again on Friday if not sooner.
No cafe. Siesta time at the market. Balery also closed…PIZZA TO THE RESCUE! Also a beer, a double coffee, and a pastry. Finding food took way too long. Too hungry to take many notes and need to get walking. I’ll have to make a longer video :)
ALL WE HAVE IS NOW. These words have more meaning today on the Camino than even the profound importance I had already realized. I need to write up something about my thoughts on this. With all the rain coming I’ll have more time to expand upon this topic. I can’t wait to share.
Only stopped briefly after lunch. Made it to the donativo albergue just before dark. I’m wiped. Need to get dinner. Will make a video after I get back and shower.
I try to avoid eating 🐙 but it’s so famously great grilled in Portugal, I just had to cave. It was wonderful and paired perfectly with the bottle of Albarinho vinho verde!
Too tired to type after making the video and I wanted a quiet dinner without note taking. Not looking forward to all the rain but excited to rest up and get back on the path!
Didn’t realize this was a culinary tour, but you certainly earn it!😉
Big miles! Way to go!
